Texas citizens are at risk of losing access to vital low-cost veterinary care for their animals. The Texas House of Representatives is considering a bill, HB 3806, that would limit the services nonprofit, low-cost veterinary clinics across the state could provide to their clients. Although the bill has been left pending in committee, it could move forward at any time.

Under the bill, only citizens who receive government assistance could access low-cost veterinary services such as flea and tick prevention, microchipping, and deworming. However, many Texas citizens who do not qualify for federal assistance programs still cannot afford to bring their animals to a private veterinary clinic.

If HB 3806 passes, countless animals would be denied the treatment they need and deserve. And, without the means to care for their animals, many citizens may surrender them to shelters. Animal shelters are the leading cause of death for cats in United States.

Ask your representative to oppose HB 3806 once and for all.
