New York residents: Help Expand TNR Funding

This action is ONLY for residents of New York

NY_AB2778_SB1081.jpg UPDATE: We are disappointed to report that Governor Cuomo has ignored the science and the wishes of his constituents in vetoing the Trap-Neuter-Return Funding Bill (AB 2778/SB 1081). We’ll continue working on this issue in New York and keep you informed about next steps.

UPDATE 10/8/2015: :New York's TNR Funding Bill is in jeopardy, and your input is absolutely crucial to save it. Please call Governor Cuomo's office at 518-474-8390 and politely state that you support the TNR Funding Bill (AB 2778/SB 1081).

Original: A pair of bills, AB 2778 and SB 1081, would expand the reach of the state spay and neuter fund to include Trap-Neuter Return (TNR) programs. Outdoor cats have a critical need for spay and neuter services, but currently, New York’s spay and neuter fund is not authorized to support TNR projects. Studies show that only a small percentage of community cats are sterilized compared to pet cats, so expanding the reach of the spay and neuter fund will increase its impact without increasing cost.

The bills have already passed through the Senate and now Governor Cuomo needs to sign them into law.
