Virginia Residents: Protect the Promote Adoptions Bill

Update - February 11, 2016: Unfortunately the House of Delegates passed HB 340. It will now go before committee in the Senate. We will continue rallying Virginians who want to protect animals.

UPDATE: HB 340 has passed out of committee and will be heard by the full House of Delegates. We need you to act now—before this bill gets another step closer to becoming a law.

ORIGINAL: The Promote Adoptions Bill guaranteed that private animal shelters are “operated for the purpose of finding permanent adoptive homes and facilitating other lifesaving outcomes for animals.” Strong opposition is trying to pass HB 340, a bill that would allow shelters to resume killing animals without ever trying to adopt them out.
