ACTION UPDATE Dear Friend, We have good news to share about SB 648, the dangerous bill we alerted you to earlier this week. Thanks to your efforts, the House Sponsor of this legislation has decided to stop the bill and rework it over the summer. Alley Cat Allies was very concerned about SB 648 because it would have required that nonprofit shelters transfer stray animals to pounds, even if the shelter would be able to achieve positive outcomes for them. The bill would have put more strain on county facilities, likely increasing the number of animals killed. We were also concerned about the bill interfering with Trap-Neuter-Return programs. Thank you to everyone who took action to oppose this bill! Alley Cat Allies will stay engaged on this issue and keep you informed of any developments. Sincerely, Alley Cat Allies |
