Spaying and neutering improves cats’ lives. Alley Cat Allies has been promoting spaying and neutering since the day we formed. After being spayed or neutered, cats no longer experience the stresses of being in heat and mating, and it reduces their risk of cancer and other diseases.

As strong proponents of Trap-Neuter-Return, Alley Cat Allies is so deeply involved caring with all animals—our pets and the cats in every community—that it can be easy to forget that there are people who don’t know the importance of spaying and neutering. It’s not only important for cats’ health, but for preventing new litters of kittens.

We need your help and support to promote and reinforce the importance of spaying and neutering for cats. Your donation will help protect cats and improve their lives by ensuring they receive the care they need.

Alley Cat Allies continues to aggressively support legislation that provides state and local funds for spaying and neutering. We are working in partnership with Humane Alliance to train veterinarians from all over the country in high-quality, high-volume spaying and neutering techniques, and we just launched our pediatric spay/neuter campaign that encourages the surgery to be performed as soon as kittens weigh 2 pounds, which is typically when they are 2 months old.

We are working hard to dispel the myths about pediatric spaying and neutering—with the public and the veterinary community. Research shows great benefit to pediatric spaying and neutering and it eliminates cats’ ability to reproduce—which can happen as early as 4 months of age.

Please help us continue to share this important message and expand resources across the country—so all the cats who need help, including community cats, have access to spaying and neutering services.
