Adoptable Cats: 12 Days of Kittens Adoption Event

12 Days of Kittens - Edan wearing Santa Hat
On the first day of Christmas, give something better than a partridge in a pear tree—a home to a loving, cuddly kitten. For twelve days this December, we’re featuring an adoptable kitten in need of a forever home. We’ve already unwrapped India, an adorable four-month-old tabby; Hobbs, a playful orange tiger; and a few of their friends, but there are still more to come! Many of these kittens are bonded like two turtledoves, so during this special adoption event, you can bring home a pair while contributing just one adoption fee. There’s no place like home for the holidays—can you provide one to a kitten this year?

Community Change Spotlight: Good Policies for Cats

Community Change Kittens
In the past month, we’ve had some major successes in our mission to help communities transform by passing good laws for cats. From July to November, we battled a restrictive proposal that would have discouraged TNR in Fort Worth, Texas. After months of lobbying and traveling across the country to meet with stakeholders, we were thrilled when the City Council finally changed course a few weeks ago and unanimously passed an ordinance more supportive of TNR. Shortly after, we celebrated the first step of putting a new law on the books to protect eartipped cats in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Alley Cat Allies has been working closely on this law from the start; it must still be signed into law by the county executive. Kudos to all the local advocates who took action on both of these campaigns to help make their communities safer for cats!

Still Seeking Justice in Louisiana Cruelty Cases

Black eartipped cat in the woods
You heard from us last month about two horrific incidences of animal cruelty in East Feliciana Parish in Louisiana: the tragic death of Kitty, the four-month-old kitten found hanged, and the colony of friendly cats who were shot to death. Thanks to our supporters’ quick and generous action, we have offered two $5,000 rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators. Tomorrow night, we are furthering our investigation by holding a town hall meeting, together with the Humane Society of Louisiana, in the city of Jackson to address these crimes. The East Feliciana sheriff has been invited to speak. Stay tuned for an update soon after the meeting and more information on our progress as we continue seeking justice for the cats and their caregivers.

Vets—They’re Not Just for Pets!

Veterinarians are an essential part of Trap-Neuter-Return and important members of our Feral Friends Network. That’s why we’ll be attending the North American Veterinary Conference in Orlando next month to network with hundreds of compassionate veterinary professionals who care for and about cats. We’re already preparing to stock our booth with materials especially for the veterinary community, from fact sheets on spay/neuter and TNR protocols to fun posters, magnets, and other gear. If you’ll be attending, stop by our booth!
